The following data access, retention, and storage policies apply to the Immersion Lab only. Please see the MIT.nano User Policies for other important information.
RemotePC Access
RemotePC access is strictly for data exporting purposes and for accessing software that requires the use of lab computers to annotate / analyze data. Any other usage is strictly prohibited without explicit prior permission from lab staff. Violation of this policy will result in suspension of access to the Immersion Lab.
- RemotePC access will be available for up to one month after your last lab session.
- If access is required beyond the one-month period, users must contact lab administration to request an extension.
Data Pickup and Removal
Users frequently generate large amounts of data using Immersion Lab tools. Due to finite storage, please be mindful of the following data retention policies:
- Users are given 60 days from the last lab session to retrieve their data from the lab’s storage systems.
- After the 60-day period, any unclaimed data may be permanently deleted without notice.
- It is the user's responsibility to ensure that all necessary data is retrieved within this timeframe.
Data Storage Allocation
- Each user may not exceed a maximum of 500GB of storage space within the lab's data systems.
- It is the user’s responsibility to manage their allocated storage space effectively. Exceeding this limit may result in restricted access to additional storage or the need to delete older data to make room for new files.
- Users are encouraged to regularly back up their data to avoid any potential loss due to storage limitations or deletion policies.
